Second Closet

Monday, April 30, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Nordstrom BP (remixed 12)
Denim Jacket: Heritage 1981
Necklace: Etsy
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Sandals: Forever 21
Coffee: Urth Caffé
Before hitting the books to study for midterms on Saturday, we headed over to Urth Caffé to try their famous organic coffee. I got a yummy honey vanilla latté and Andrew decided on their Spanish cream latté which was equally as delicious. I had never thought to mix honey and coffee, but after that latté, I have now discovered the perfect remedy for any poorly made espresso drink (yes, overpriced campus coffee shop—I'm talking to you).

I wore this outfit partly because a simple summer dress and denim jacket seemed perfect for the sunny day, and partly because I'm running out of clothes and happened to find this combo in the backseat of my car. Yes, unfortunately you heard me correctly—between work, school, and my internship my car is slowly becoming my second closet. Right now, I have at least three pairs of heels, two pairs of jeans, a scarf, sweatshirt, dress, and blazer thrown in my backseat...
Somebody, please tell me I'm not the only one out there guilty of creating a second closet...

Comfort

Sunday, April 29, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Anthropologie "Petal Window Tee" (shop, remixed)
Maxi Skirt: Nordstrom BP (remixed 1, 2, & 3)
Necklace: Urban Outfitters
Belt: Nordstrom
Sandals: Forever 21
Many times, what I wear to work is dictated by what items have been selling well in the store. This "Petal Window Tee" has been pretty popular lately, so I decided to wear it for my shift on Friday to give customers some styling inspiration.

Originally, I had tucked my tee into the maxi skirt, but its hi-low length made it look bulky and weird under the skirt. So, I decided to show off its hemline by wearing it untucked with a belt. Wearing it untucked also made my outfit much more relaxed and comfortable, which are two very important factors to consider when working a six-hour closing shift.

Off Track

Thursday, April 26, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Blouse: Anthropologie (remixed 1 & 2)
Blazer: Urban Outfitters (remixed)
Jeans: BDG via Urban Outfitters (shop)
Belt: thrifted
Earrings: Anthropologie
Heels: Marc Fisher via Macy's
Thanks to my internship, I have been getting a ton of wear out of these high, yet comfy heels (and my trusty blazer). It usually takes me a while to warm up to a pair of shoes, and considering the fact that I've actually owned these since my high school graduation, I think it's about time I finally start wearing them.

I wore this outfit to my internship, class, and then decided to keep it on to go out to dinner and to a press screening of The Five-Year Engagement with Andrew. Both dinner and the movie were great (seriously...you have to see the movie!) and it was fun to have a little weeknight date. Unfortunately, our impromptu date threw my schedule off a bit, and I just haven't been able to get back on track. Seriously though, I have been waking up everyday thinking it's Saturday, which is actually really depressing when I remember it's not.
Happy...Saturday  Thursday?

Thank You

Monday, April 23, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Chambray: Forever 21 (remixed)
Dress (as skirt): Nordstrom BP (shop, remixed)
Necklace: H&M
Flats: Anthropologie
I've only had this top for a few weeks and I'm already getting a ton of wear out if it.  I love that it can be worn as a shirt, jacket, or used as a layering piece. Thank you, Forever 21. My twenty dollars were definitely well spent.

And while I'm at it with the thank you's...
Thank you, my local Starbucks. The vanilla latté I'm drinking as a write this was well worth the wait.

Happy Monday :)

Dressing Up

Friday, April 20, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: H&M (remixed)
Cardigan: Nordstrom BP
Jeans: AG "Stevie Ankle" (remixed)
Watch: Michael Kors
Belt: thrifted
Heels: Marc Fisher via Macy's
Amidst all the craziness of school, this is the first outfit from my PR internship that I have actually been able to document. And it also happens to be fairly casual in comparison to the pencil skirts and heels I have usually been wearing. However, I wore it because it was the perfect outfit to transition from work to class.

But once I was back on campus, I swapped my heels (that I love, but never have the opportunity to wear) for my trusty leopard flats. It's too bad that people would look at me funny if I wore heels on campus, because I really want to make more of an effort to wear them out. They really are the most tried and true way to dress up any outfit.

Anyway, that's my mini rant...TGIF and have a great weekend!

Wrinkled & Retro

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: thrifted, originally from Forever 21
Skirt: Urban Outfitters (remixed 1 & 2)
Necklace: Urban Outfitters
Belt: Nordstrom
Flats: Anthropologie
I didn't realize until seeing these pictures that my skirt was wrinkly all day! Too bad I don't have an iron up with me at school and even if I did I probably would be too lazy to use it.

So, lets ignore the wrinkles and pretend it's all part of the retro look I was going for...

First Snapshots of Spring

Monday, April 16, 2012

Here's a look into what I've been up to these past few weeks. So far, spring quarter has been treating me quite well. Now, let's see how many more weeks of fun I have left before I need to start studying...

Happy Monday!

Out and About

Sunday, April 15, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: H&M (remixed 1 & 2)
Denim Jacket: Life in Progress via Forever 21
Belt: thrifted
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Bag: Fossil
Shoes: Seychelles
I have a little to-do list going of all the areas in LA I want to see before I graduate, and these past few weeks I have been beginning to conquer that list. This Saturday, Andrew and I had an afternoon date filled with delicious red velvet pancakes from The Griddle in West Hollywood and a matinee showing of 21 Jump Street at The Grove (both of which were amazing!).

It was fun to drive around, eat delicious food, and ignore all the assignments and readings I have looming over my head. Plus, we managed to find a random parking garage that had a pretty good view of the Hollywood sign at the top.
Even though I was not the biggest fan of LA when I first moved here, after venturing into more of the city, LA may or may not be starting to grow on me...

Denim Ballerina

Friday, April 13, 2012

 What I'm Wearing:
Chambray Shirt: Forever 21 (remixed)
Sweater: Urban Outfitters (remixed 1 & 2)
Jeans: Joe's Jeans
Earrings: Nordstrom BP
Flats: Target (shop)
I was feeling especially preppy yesterday and decided to pull out all the stops. Chambray button down, leopard flats, and my lovely ballet bun.

Unfortunately, this "bun" is pretty much the only thing I can do with my hair other than leaving it down or putting it in a ponytail. One day (a.k.a. never because I love my short hair) I will be able to master the famous sock bun that everyone on Pinterest has been talking about...

Window Shopping

Monday, April 9, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Camisole: LOFT
Cardigan: Anthropologie (shop)
Skirt: thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Bag: Fossil
Heels: Seychelles
This past Saturday was lovely, relaxing, and hot. (I consider anything over 75 degrees to be uncomfortable...) Andrew and I ventured into Brentwood for brunch, took a drive down PCH, got lost on the freeway, and then found our way back to Beverly Hills where we ate cupcakes and walked along Rodeo Drive.

And the best part? I wasn't even tempted to walk into any of the stores and spend money since I could probably only afford to buy their paper shopping bags...

A Little Bit of Whimsy

Friday, April 6, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Shirt: Anthropologie (remixed 1 & 2)
Cardigan: Anthropologie "Ribboned Rocket Cardigan" (shop)
Skirt: Nordstrom Brass Plum (shop)
Belt: Nordstrom
Flats: Target (shop)
I was feeling a little whimsical the other day and decided to pair my striped shirt and denim skirt with my new leopard flats and patterned cardigan. The combination is a bit unexpected, but I think the pieces have just the right amount of quirkiness for them to all work well together. This is my kind of spring outfit...

Have a great weekend!
