As the year comes to a close, I thought I should do a little reflecting on this blog of mine. Six months ago, I took a risk and started this blog, unsure of how it would be received. However, I have been overwhelmed by all the positive feedback I have gotten from it, and I truly appreciate all the support I have been given. Starting a blog was always something I wanted to do, and I am so happy that I waited until the right time to start one so that I could really give it my all.

So, here are eleven outfits from the last half of 2011. Feel free to take a walk down memory lane with me and revisit some of my first posts! Compiling this post was fun because it was interesting to see how much my blogging style has changed over the past six months. However, I've still got the same lovely amateur Canon point-and-shoot camera and I'm still working with the same closet (well...with a few minor additions here and there).

I hope for 2012 to bring even more positive changes to this blog and my personal style.

{bonus outfit: remember this?}

Happy New Year! I wish you a happily clothed and caffeinated 2012!

Getaway

Thursday, December 29, 2011

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Nordstrom BP
Camisole: Anthropologie
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity via Buffalo Exchange
Crossbody Bag: Fossil
Watch: Michael Kors
Flats: Anthropologie "Doily Flounce Flats"
Living on my own at college, it's weird to transition back to living at home over school breaks. So to get away from home for a bit, we took a mini-trip up to Venice Beach for a couple of days. Ever since seeing Because I Said So and Valentine's Day, which both feature scenes at the historic Venice Canals, I had wanted to visit them. The canals definitely did not disappoint and it was nice to stroll up and down the bridges looking at all the wonderful houses that I will most likely never be able to afford...unless I win the lottery (still my back-up plan).
We also ventured over to the main area of Venice Beach, which was significantly less quaint than the canals. However, the street performers, graffiti walls, "medicinal" smoke shops, and rows of trinket booths definitely gave the beach some...character. Needless to say, I think I will stick to Santa Monica whenever I have the urge to go to the beach in LA.

Orange Groves

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Anthropologie
Camisole: Nordstrom BP
Jeans: Joe's Jeans
Earrings: Anthropologie (here)
Crossbody Bag: Fossil
Flats: Anthropologie "Doily Flounce Flats"
The other day we drove down to an orange grove park nearby and had a picnic. It was a nice little escape and a great place to take photos.

One thing I love about being home is being able to explore places like this that I normally would never have time to. It also makes me not miss the city, classes, or any of the other responsibilities I have waiting for me back at school.
I've got a week and a half left at home...and I'm going to make the most of it.

Vintage

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Anthropologie "Winsome Pullover" (on sale here)
Scarf: Vintage
Watch: DKNY
Jeans: AG Stevie Ankle Jeans via Anthropologie (here)
Boots: Anthropologie "Buckled Paddock Boots"
I had this brilliant idea to break in my new boots by wearing them on my 7 hour Christmas Eve shift at work. Unfortunately, I must have completely forgotten the awkwardness that comes with breaking in new boots when I came up with this master plan. You know, the awkward moment when you discover that one of your feet is significantly larger than the other, or when a boot seems to destroy one foot while the other one seems untouched. (Okay, perhaps this is a personal issue...)

Anyways, it probably wasn't the best idea I've ever had, but my boots definitely got scuffed enough so that I can fool people and pretend they're vintage...like my scarf! Which actually is vintage—or at least that's what the lady who sold it to me at the flea market said...

Anyways, Merry (Day After the Day After) Christmas!
