Come Sail Away

nautical sailboat tee with yellow midi skirt
Get the look:
blue and yellow outfit idea
spring outfit idea
I wore this nautical outfit to a shift at work (although it could have just as easily worked for a little trip on my yacht, ha) and my co-workers appropriately called my t-shirt "vintage Anthro" since it's so old! It's crazy that I've been with the company so long that I can say things like that. It has been almost two years people! Where has the time gone!?

Anyway, this may be my only post for the week. This quarter is kicking my butt and between Anthro and my internship I'm easily working 30+ hours a week. Oh, and then there's school. So thaaaaat's what I've been up to lately. I'm pretty much on the verge of a nervous breakdown like 24/7 (just ask Andrew and my wonderful roommates) and counting down the days until summer. Even though I'll still be busy, it's going to be so nice to take a break from school.

Okay, off to study statistics (aka my favorite subject in the WORLD). Wish me luck!

Some Personality

how-to-mix-prints-and-colors
how-to-dress-for-an-internship-interview
I wore this outfit for an interview I had earlier this week. For companies with a more casual dress code, it's hard to walk the line between looking professional and still fitting in with the company culture. It's always important to look put together, but that doesn't mean you have to wear a black blazer and pencil skirt to every interview. For my outfit, I opted for this button-up, because I thought the print gave it more personality than just a simple white dress shirt. I then decided to pair my trusty mustard midi skirt with it because the color matched well with my shirt, and the length made it interview appropriate.

Later in the day, I swapped my skirt out for boyfriend jeans, and my heels out for Sperry's. I usually don't wear button-ups, but I really like the feel of this printed shirt and think it will be a great piece for spring. I've also been noticing a ton of "menswear" button-ups online, so I can definitely sense a spring trend on the horizon! Loose shirts like this are perfect because they can be worn with pants, skirts, or even worn open over a top or dress.

P.S. I'm officially done with all my papers and finals...TGISB (thank goodness it's spring break)!!

Simple Crochet

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The weather in LA has been pretty strange, so I'm never quite sure how to dress on any given day. Ever since coming back from the freezing Irish weather, I figured I would be able to withstand the cold.  However, my body has quickly gotten used to the LA sunshine, and I get a cold chill anytime the weather hits below 70 degrees...what is wrong with me!?

Luckily, this outfit was pretty versatile and worked for the sunny (but chilly) day we had yesterday. Even though I wasn't wearing a sweater, my denim vest and new crochet scarf kept me warm. I was so excited when this cute Etsy shop* offered to send me a handmade scarf. The one I chose is a great neutral color that will go with everything, and a perfect replacement for my old Forever 21 infinity scarf that I wore all throughout Europe.

Flow

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

{What I'm Wearing: Blouse—Anthropologie (remixed), Skirt—thrifted (remixed),
Belt—thrifted, Earrings—Anthropologie, Heels—Target}
My loose blouse and billowy skirt made this outfit feel very flowy. Going through my old posts, I just realized that this outfit is almost identical to one I wore last summer, but with jeans instead of a skirt. Funny how changing one piece can really alter the whole feel of an ensemble. Remixing for the win!

What I'm Wearing:
Top: H&M (similar)
Mustard Skirt: thrifted (similar)
Paisley Scarf: vintage (remixed 1 & 2)
Belt: Nordstrom
Flats: Anthropologie (similar)
Something about this outfit makes me feel like I just walked out of a J. Crew catalog, and I kind of like it.

So, here's to feeling preppy, and embracing my strange obsession with anything and everything paisley. We all know how much I love paisley...

Happy Monday!

Window Shopping

What I'm Wearing:
Camisole: LOFT
Cardigan: Anthropologie (shop)
Skirt: thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Bag: Fossil
Heels: Seychelles
This past Saturday was lovely, relaxing, and hot. (I consider anything over 75 degrees to be uncomfortable...) Andrew and I ventured into Brentwood for brunch, took a drive down PCH, got lost on the freeway, and then found our way back to Beverly Hills where we ate cupcakes and walked along Rodeo Drive.

And the best part? I wasn't even tempted to walk into any of the stores and spend money since I could probably only afford to buy their paper shopping bags...
