Over the years, only a handful of people have taken photos for my blog. I think it stems from a place of my own self-consciousness. Not really from posing in front of a camera, but more from how incredibly high maintenance particular I can be about my blog photos. Which is why...friends who blog are the best. Because you can convince them to take outfit photos of you and not feel bad giving very (very) specific requests on the exact cactus-flower ratio needed for the "perfect" shot.

P.S. Unlike the rest of Los Angeles, I didn't go to Coachella last weekend. Instead, I wandered around a cemetery for 2 hours by myself because I'm a normal person who does normal things like that. Stay tuned for more photos once I finally decide where to upload them. Instagram? Tumblr? These social networks are getting low-key out of control and I'm really starting to miss the good-ole-fashioned scrapbook's heyday.

Refresh

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Get the look:
I was getting a little bored with the concrete staircase backdrop so I decided to go a little crazy and take photos where people might actually see me. In case you were wondering, this is what the parking garage of my work looks like. In the distance, there's a great view of a scrap metal yard and plenty of smog to go around :)

Initially I wasn't going to blog this outfit, but I love these boots too much not to share. It finally feels like fall over here (and I've got a nice change-of-weather cold to show for it...) so I've slowly been rediscovering the other half of my closet. Aside from just clothing, this summer seemed to drag on forever, so I'm hoping this change in weather will be a fresh start for me. It's about time I hit that refresh button.

Around the World

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

My spring break is going to be filled with lots of errands. I've got three appointments I avoided making all quarter, and a whole lot of sleep to catch up on. Funny story: last night I took a nap at 6pm...and woke up at 3am. That's definitely going to be good for keeping my sleep schedule regular...

I wore this outfit a few nights ago to dinner with my family. I didn't bring too many clean clothes home for spring break, so while I slowly tackle my pile of laundry, I have been rotating the same few pieces everyday. Luckily, these jeans don't get dirty too easily, and this jacket matches with pretty much everything! I have also been wearing my new map watch from Urban almost non-stop since I got it. I'm a sucker for map prints, and this watch is no exception. It's a nice reminder of all the places I have been in the past year...and all the places I still have yet to see :)

Irish Tan

Monday, December 3, 2012

Don't ask me how/why...but I somehow look tan in these photos? Let me assure you though, I am not actually this tan, nor have I been indulging in self tanner these past few months (unfortunately, that's actually a really popular thing here). Anyway, hooray for an actual outfit post! To be honest, I have been pretty lazy about taking photos of my outfits on a daily basis, and have just been relying on my weekend trips to snap outfit/travel photos. This also means that you have really only been seeing the same combos over and over again, since I tend to gravitate towards the same few pieces when packing for trips.

I wore this outfit a few weeks back, before the Irish cold set in. Now, it hardly reaches 40 degrees and I wouldn't be caught dead outside in such a light coat! Here's to 3 more weeks until I'm back in sunny California :)

Dublin Days

Sunday, September 30, 2012

{What I'm Wearing: Dress—Anthropologie "Two-Button Sailor Chemise" (shop // remixed), Jacket—Anthropologie
"Openwork Army Jacket" (similar // remixed), Scarf—Forever 21 (similar), Booties–Target (shop), Bag—Fossil (shop)}
above: Trinity College
above: St. Patrick's Cathedral
above: here, there, and everywhere in Dublin...

After leaving Italy, we flew into Dublin, hurried back to Cork for a night to recharge and unpack all our dirty laundry from Italy, quickly repacked our suitcases, and left again for our study abroad orientation in Dublin. Even though I was excited to meet the people in our program, I was so exhausted from our trip that it was hard to spend a night at home in Cork (with two of my best friends who stayed over for a night) and then leave right away.

A couple of these photos were taken from our mini-trip to Dublin before we left for Italy, but I figured I would put them all in one post because they each give a little snapshot of the city. To be honest, when I first visited Dublin I began to slightly question my choice to study abroad in Cork. However, after being in Cork for a couple of weeks now, I can safely say that I am very happy with my choice and I think Dublin is better as a weekend trip than as a place to live for four months.

P.S. I am so happy to finally be blogging about Ireland again and I can't wait to share with you all the little things I've been doing these past few weeks abroad :)

A Very Early Birthday

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

{What I'm Wearing: Top—Forever 21, Jacket—Anthropologie "Openwork Army Jacket" (shop // remixed),
Skirt—Anthropologie "Sunblaze Lace Skirt" (shop // remixed), Necklace—vintage, Wedges—Cathy Jean (similar)}
I wore this ensemble out to dinner with Andrew and my family for a very early birthday celebration since I'm leaving for Ireland in two weeks, and my actual birthday isn't until later in September. To play down the color of this fancy (but surprisingly comfortable!) lace skirt, I decided to throw my favorite army jacket over my outfit. I'm not sure what it is about this jacket, but there is something surprisingly versatile about it that makes it great for day or night. Plus, its a nice alternative to my infamous chambray...

P.S. If you are interested in what I have been up to at my internship, you can check out the most recent segment of Breakfast at Ruche where we show you how to style two day-to-night looks with a few key Ruche pieces and interview our stylist, Mara :)

Our Spot

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

{Maxi DressRuche (shop), Jacket—Anthropologie "Openwork Army Jacket" (shop // remixed),
Scarf—H&M (shop similar), Belt—H&M, Bracelet—vintage, Handbag—vintage, Sandals—Target (shop similar)}
I got this dress from Ruche about a month or so ago, and had been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it out (as I've mentioned before...I tend to do that a lot). Finally, last weekend, Andrew and I both had some time off and we were able to go to our favorite little Italian restaurant for the first time this summer. So, being the fashion nerd that I am, I got really excited that I finally had something to get dressed up for! As always, we had fun walking around and looking at all the cute family-owned shops before dinner. And together, we demolished two full bread baskets, a pizza, and a big pasta dish...it was a dream come true.
I think it's funny we have been going to the same restaurant in that part of town (we refuse to try anything else) since the very beginning of our relationship. What can I say....we are creatures of habit and we love our spot.

 And if you were wondering, that's Andrew...looking all classy and nautical and stuff.
