The beautiful St. Colman's Cathedral in Cobh

A couple of weeks ago before our first day of class, Andrew and I took a day trip out to the nearby beach town of Cobh. It happened to be a Sunday, so most of the smaller shops were closed (sometimes I forget that Sundays in Ireland are very quiet and slow), but the calm rainy day was perfect for exploring the town. We took a tour in their Titanic museum which was very touristy but also super interesting. Before our visit, I had no idea that Cobh was the last stop the Titanic made before it sunk in the Atlantic. The museum gave each person on the tour a name of a passenger who boarded the Titanic at the Cobh port. I got assigned a 20-year-old female passenger who wound up being one of the few survivors from Cobh.

My favorite part of the town, by far, was how all the houses and buildings were painted different bright colors. Amidst the gloom and fog from the ocean, each building stood out on its own, creating a quirky and colorful little cityscape.

Dressing for the Occasion

I wore this combo out to dinner and a movie with Andrew on Friday. At first, I wasn't wearing my chambray and looked pretty dressy. But, I quickly remembered that we had planned to eat at Umami in hipster-central and figured I would fit in a little better with a loose chambray to make my outfit slightly more casual. After dinner, we headed to the movies to see Ruby Sparks which is by far the best movie I have seen in quite a while! It was equal parts witty, romantic, and thought-provoking and I highly recommend it if you are looking to see something you will want to talk about for days afterwards. Plus, it was a great date movie and definitely hit on some funny (but true) realities of relationships.

Bed Rest

Remember that relaxing weekend I was hoping for? Well...it definitely didn't happen. Unless you count being sick in bed for two days straight as relaxing. Although I suppose you could argue it as being some sort of forced-relaxation...

Anyway, don't let this post fool you. I wore this outfit on Tuesday before my body decided to catch an especially nasty cold. The problem with this cold was that it decided to fool me on Friday into thinking I was feeling better...and then sneak up on me the rest of the weekend—forcing me to miss work and put myself on a 48-hour bed rest.

Today, I'm feeling slightly better and I'm hoping that this cold doesn't persist through tenth week and finals (there's nothing fun about being the sniffly girl in the library). So, here's to a week of vitamin C, chicken noodle soup, and lots of tissue.

These past few weeks have been constantly go go go for me. And I feel like I haven't really had a second to breathe. Last week I finished midterms, and thought I was in the clear...only to be "surprised" by a ten page paper that I thoroughly underestimated.

To be honest, I don't even remember when I wore this outfit. But, I do know that it was sometime last week, during one of the wonderful "winter" days we have been having in LA. Its been cold, and surprisingly, I've been loving it. Unfortunately, I was not anticipating 50-60 degree days when I packed for school, so I've been rotating between a few sweaters and my denim jackets while my actual warm clothes sit tucked away back home. Anyways, you can see the last time I wore this dress here, way back at the end of summer. I love it when dresses like this can be easily transitioned from summer to the colder seasons.

P.S. I have about four un-blogged outfits patiently waiting in my iPhoto to be posted. Dear college...can I please put you on pause for just a few days?

Fine Print

What I'm Wearing:

Just like in contracts and business deals, there should be fine print when you buy a piece of clothing. I absolutely loved this dress when I tried it on and it seemed to be the perfect length and everything. However, fast-forward a couple days when I actually wore this for the first time to work...and I quickly discovered the fine print of this lovely printed dress (I'm punny).

Because I work in a clothing store, I am required to go on my tip-toes to put things away, as well as bend all the way down to pick things up off the floor. The only problem? When I did either of these, my entire bottom popped out from under the black slip of this dress!! To make matters worse, it was covered by the chiffon print, which just made it look weird. Although I managed to avoid flashing customers while the store was still open, when we closed..there was no hope for me or my coworkers.

The problem is, I don't want to return this dress because a) I already wore it for a 5 hour shift and b) its preeetty. So, I'm going to have to figure out some sort of slip attachment to make this dress work/going-out-in-public-appropriate.

Lesson learned? Be that girl in dressing room jumping up and down/doing squats to test drive every piece of clothing before I buy it.

P.S. I discovered an anomaly at Starbucks the other day when I got my triple shot latte before my 6am shift. A grande vanilla latte with an added shot is more expensive than a venti latte...which already includes 3 shots of espresso. Next time, I'm either haggling with the barista, or making it complicated and changing my venti order to taste exactly like a grande 3-shot latte (less milk, more coffeeeee).
