This plaid shirt from Anthropologie is one of my go-to tops when I don't know what else to wear. Instead of simply pairing it with jeans, I decided to make my outfit a little more feminine by wearing it with my cream lace skirt. This skirt is one of my favorites and pairs well with a lot of different colors and prints. I think the two pieces worked well together, and it was a great (and comfortable) outfit for my closing shift at work! Sometimes, it's nice to dress a little preppy without being too over the top. I've also noticed that these sunglasses make everything look a little more retro...which I, of course, am perfectly okay with :)

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Escape: Part II

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Anthropologie "Dotline Boatneck" (remixed)
Denim Jacket: Heritage 1981
Skirt: Free People (here) (remixed 1 & 2)
Belt: Target
Earrings: Anthropologie
Boots: Nordstrom BP
We walked up the road from our B&B for a great view of the whole canyon. It was super cold and windy, but we managed to capture a few minutes of golden light when the clouds cleared past the hills. There's something about the quality of golden light that can't be replicated on photoshop...and I love it.

The view was truly beautiful. It was so quiet and serene up on the trail that it's hard to believe we were only twenty minutes outside of the city...
Take me back, Topanga!

The Daily Grind

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Shirt: Topshop
Skirt: Free People (remixed here) (buy here)
Belt: Target
Tights: Anthropologie
Boots: Nordstrom BP
Winter break is over and I'm back at school—back to the daily grind...kind of. A lot of my classes are still up in the air and I don't go back to work until next week, so I have yet to feel completely settled. Without much to do these past few days, I have honestly just been roaming around aimlessly on campus and drinking overpriced campus coffee out of pure boredom.

I hate to say it, but if I have to be back at school...I might as well be busy! In a few weeks, when I am actually stressed and busy, remind me I said this.

Lace Skirt: Free People (here)
Straw Fedora: University Student Store
Bow Handbag: Anthropologie

Yet another weekend has come and gone, and I can't believe I only have 2 weeks left of summer! These pictures were taken on one of those perfect summer evenings that make you want summer to last forever (despite all the complaining I have done about it). Although, I must note that the gorgeous park that we took these photos at was ruined by a pageant mother taking head shots of her poor little girl who looked like she had stepped right out of Toddlers & Tiaras...

Anyways, I love this outfit because I got the chance to wear my favorite (and only) fedora, which I unconsciously built my entire outfit around. Believe it or not, I got this puppy on sale in the very small and usually tacky clothing section of my student store. Before that, I had been searching for months for the perfect straw fedora that would actually fit my abnormally wide head. Lucky for me, these hats went on sale at the end of the year and I decided to try one on for fun after wandering into the store to pick up some hi-chews and lemonade. To my surprise, it actually looked good...fit on my head...and fit my budget!

I decided to pair my fedora with some feminine details to balance out its boyish style. This bow purse is one of my favorites and despite its bold print, tends to work with most outfits. I also love my delicate lace  skirt which, until now, I have always had trouble styling. However, this mustard-beige top seems to compliment it well and I definitely plan to pair these two pieces together again. All in all, this outfit was great for a warm summer evening of wandering, shopping, and seeing Our Idiot Brother (which is hilarious...especially if you already love Paul Rudd).

Another note:
I visited my best friend at her college this weekend and she introduced me to one of my new favorite Starbucks drinks. Maybe some of you have already tried it...but if you haven't, its a great alternative to a Vanilla/Hazelnut Latte if you are craving something lighter (and cheaper).

Grande Iced Coffee
