One of the great things about living in LA is finding random bits of art (or "art") throughout the city. I love street murals, so I was excited to find this quirky brick wall in the parking lot of a Buffalo Exchange, of all places. Luckily, I had my camera handy since I had just come from location scouting for a work project, so I insisted that my coworkers take blog photos of me in front of it :)

This outfit is a good example of how I dress down my LBD's for work. I love the lace detailing on the bottom of this dress, but without the right accessories it can feel a little too fancy during the day. So, I paired it with my favorite scarf and brown ankle boots. It's a quick and easy outfit formula to make anything more casual. (A denim jacket/vest is also always a good option.)

Hope you all had a good weekend!

The Perfect Tourist

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

{What I'm Wearing: Top—H&M, Scarf—Anthropologie "Arno Scarf" (remixed), Sunglasses—Ray-Ban}
On our third day in Florence, Andrew and I attempted to climb the Duomo. However, with our fantastic luck, it turned out that we came on the one day out of the year that the Duomo is closed to the public (other than Sundays and religious holidays). Luckily, the guards were instead giving people free admission to climb the perimeter of the cathedral directly in front of the Duomo. The perimeter still had amazing views of the city, plus we were able to spend the 20 euros we saved by not climbing the Duomo on a bit more wine and gelato :)

For the climb, I stuck with my trusty striped tee and a light scarf to protect my neck from the sun. Andrew forgot sunscreen so I made him wear it like a pashmina while we were waiting in line. Unfortunately, (or fortunately for him) no pictures were taken to document that wonderfully embarrassing occurrence ;)

As it turns out, my "Arno scarf," (named after the Arno River in Florence!) happens to have the city skyline printed on it, so I felt like a really awesome tourist the whole time I was wearing it. And I'm not being sarcastic...I was really excited about the fact that I finally had the chance to actually wear my Italian-inspired scarf in Italy!

Almost Native

Lace Bandeau—Urban Outfitters (shop), Earrings—Nordstrom BP, Satchel—Anthropologie, Sandals—Target}
Andrew and I finally made it to the beach this weekend. Unfortunately, I was slightly unprepared and didn't bring a bathing suit or sunscreen. So, it was just me...sitting on a beach towel in a black maxi dress...using my scarf as a shawl to prevent my shoulders from being burned.

Needless to say, I probably brought dishonor to my native So-Cal roots. Oh well, perhaps the sun just isn't for me ... but my white legs might tell you otherwise.

On Paper

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

{What I'm Wearing: Tank—Forever 21, Cardigan—Anthropologie "Anza Cardi" (remixed),
Scarf—Anthropologie "Arno Scarf" (shop), Denim—Holding Horses, Necklace—Dogeared, Wedges—Cathy Jean Shoes}
I wore my new cityscape printed scarf out on a date with Andrew this past Memorial Day. I absolutely love the simple print, and I'm excited to continue to style it into more outfits. I know I will be able to throw it over any simple clothing combination—like the one I am wearing—to instantly make my outfit a little more fun and interesting.

For our date, we got Sprinkles Ice Cream and saw What to Expect When You're Expecting. Unfortunately, both were a little disappointing. Sometimes, a date sounds great on paper and winds up being a bit of a bust. Nevertheless, it was still nice to spend time together at the end of a long weekend and before finals stress sets in.

I know it's a little late...but I hope you all had a great long weekend! Summer is almost here...
