Seattle Adventures: Part I

Friday, March 30, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Chambray Shirt: Forever 21
Striped Shirt: Anthropologie (remixed)
Jeans: Eairth Classics (remixed 1 & 2)
Raincoat: borrowed
Beanie: Krochet Kids (shop)
Bag: Fossil
Boots: Nordstrom BP
Here are some pictures from my adventures with Hayley in downtown Seattle yesterday. Unfortunately, it was unusually rainy (even for Seattle!) and didn't let up the entire day. But, after a while, I got used to being completely soaked and let myself appreciate the authentic and rainy Seattle day.

Downtown was wonderful and reminded me a bit of a cleaner and greener San Francisco. I'm excited because today we are headed over to explore University of Washington and the U-District. Then I'm back on a plane back to California tonight...

Happy Friday!

Floral Pop

Thursday, March 29, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Anthropologie "Petal Window Tee" (remixedshop)
Cardigan: Anthropologie "Anza Cardi"
Jeans: Madewell "Rail Straight Jeans" (shop)
Scarf: Forever 21
Flats: Anthropologie
When I first put this outfit together, I was only wearing my simple mint top and orange cardigan. However, when I looked closely at my new floral scarf, I realized that it matched the colors in my outfit perfectly so I threw it on to complete the look. I must be on a winning streak with Forever 21 lately, because I found this lovely scarf there last week for only eight dollars! I definitely can see myself using it as a go-to for many spring outfits to come.

Anyway, I am currently sitting in a Starbucks in Seattle (I know, it follows me everywhere...) waiting for Hayley to get out of class before we head downtown! So far it's been pretty rainy but I have loved exploring different parts of the city and can't wait to see more.

Prep in My Step

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Plaid Shirt: Anthropologie
Camisole: Anthropologie
Jeans: Eairth Classics (remixed)
Earrings: Anthropologie
Bag: Fossil
Shoes: Sperry Topsider
I had been eyeing this plaid top from Anthropologie ever since it showed up on the front page of their December 2011 catalog. Then, during one of my closing shifts, it magically appeared as a return and turned out to be on sale. Needless to say, I took that as a divine sign that I was meant to own this preppy little shirt.
I don't own too many plaid button-downs so this shirt was the perfect addition to my closet. Also, perhaps it's the fact that spring is in the air, but lately my style has been more preppy than usual. I've definitely been making proper use of my well-loved Sperry's and it is outfits like this that make me rethink my original aversion to preppy looks.

P.S. I'm off to Seattle for a few days to visit my friend Hayley! I may not blog while I'm on my trip, so expect plenty of photos and updates when I come home!

Color Storm

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Sweater: Forever 21 (shop)
Denim Jacket: Heritage 1981
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Beanie: Anthropologie (remixed)
Scarf: Nordstrom BP
Boots: Cathy Jean Shoes
Unfortunately, my spring break's weather has decided to be slightly temperamental—wonderful and sunny one day...and rainy the next. However, I guess this rainy weather is good preparation for my trip to Seattle (which I will be taking tomorrow)!

I had originally planned to wear with outfit sans the hat, boots, and jacket. But, even though this outfit was not originally planned for rain, I feel like the bright stripes and hat added just the right amount of color to the gloomy day.

Quality Time

Monday, March 26, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Forever 21
Cardigan: Forever 21 (shop different color)
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Shoes: Sperry Top-Sider
Spring is a time for wearing florals, bright colors, flowy skirts, and taking fashion risks. And I had truly forgotten how fun it is to dress for spring until I put this quirky outfit together. I'll be the first to admit...this outfit was definitely a fashion risk, but there is something about this unusual color combination that makes it all work together in the end. Who knows, maybe I'm crazy and the five people that looked me up and down on the boardwalk were right. But, frankly, I'm sticking to my gut on this one and officially proclaiming it as one of my favorite spring outfits!

And it was the perfect outfit to wear for a wonderful day of quality time together. It's not often that we get to spend a whole Saturday out together, so I cherish these days when they finally come along—thank you spring break!

Brunch, beach, Mexican food, and a movie (Friends with Kids). It doesn't get much better than that.

Spring Fresh

Thursday, March 22, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Anthropologie "Petal Window Tee" (shop)
Jeans: !iT brand denim (remixed)
Scarf: Forever 21 (shop)
 Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Watch: Michael Kors
Flats: Anthropologie
You know those days when you go into Forever 21, try on a million things, and walk out empty-handed? Well...today was definitely not one of those days.
As a reward to myself for finishing finals, I took a little solo shopping trip {please note: these "solo" shopping trips where no one is there to convince me out of buying things never end well} and innocently wandered into Forever 21. Little did I know, they decided to get in all their cute spring merchandise right before I came in...
Now, I'm normally not the biggest fan of Forever 21 and actually haven't shopped there in about six months, but I guess the stars were alined in my favor because I managed to snag this lovely polka dot scarf and a few other great items that I will probably be blogging about soon. I had forgotten how good of a deal Forever 21 can be when you actually find cute items! Lets just put it down in the books as my "post-finals retail therapy" and leave it at that.

P.S. I've officially jumped on the "mint" bandwagon with this top. But I would really like to think of myself as a trendsetter rather than follower. I swear I bought a bright mint cardigan last spring break and everyone looked at me funny. Now, I can officially whip out my "last season" cardigan...and still be in style! muhahaha

Finals Snapshots

Monday, March 19, 2012

Here are a few random snapshots from the past week...
{taken around my house, town, and on the road...}

Not much going on over here except studying, snacking, coffee-drinking, and the occasional outing. Definitely not as exciting as these lovely snapshots (take me back...)!

Happy Monday!

Feeling Green

Sunday, March 18, 2012

This picture was the only snap I took of my somewhat festive St. Patrick's Day outfit. Unfortunately, rather than having fun and celebrating, I spent my day studying for finals and going to work. However, I'm pretty sure the fact that I will be in Ireland in less than six months makes up for the fact that I was unable to celebrate this lovely Irish holiday.

Anyway, four more days...and I'll be done with finals! There probably won't be any outfit posts coming from me until then since I'm wearing nothing but my grungy study clothes.

 I think I can I think I can...

Dotty

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: ShopRuche.com
Cardigan: Target
Scarf: Forever 21
Belt: Target
Boots: Nordstrom BP
Taking a break from finals studying, I wore this out to a movie screening of Jeff, Who Lives At Home last night. It was nice to venture into Hollywood for a bit before I have to buckle down and study for finals. That "buckling down" should really be happening right now...as a write this post...

Anyway, other than stripes, I'm pretty sure my new favorite print is polka dots. And this dress from ShopRuche.com definitely has its fair share of dots. I've loved this boutique for quite some time, but this is the first official purchase I have made from them and I am very happy with it! Unfortunately, the dress I'm wearing is sold out online...but you can shop their new arrivals for lots of other cute and vintage-inspired items.
Off to study! Wish me luck...

Americana

Monday, March 12, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Chambray Shirt: Top Shop (remixed)
Top: Nordstrom BP (shop)
Jeans: AG Stevie Ankle (shop different color) (remixed 1 & 2)
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Handbag: Fossil
Shoes: Seychelles via Anthropologie
I took a quick and last-minute trip home this weekend to relax before the craziness of finals. Luckily, my trip fell on the same weekend as Andrew's little brother's musical at our old high school. The whole production was hilarious and I was very proud of my (unofficial) little bro.

Seeing as I came home with a hamper full of random dirty laundry, I didn't have any outfits planned for the weekend. But, I was able to pull together this somewhat patriotic ensemble with my trusty red jeans. Look at me! I've got red, white, blue, and stripes.

You're welcome, America.

Chevron

Friday, March 9, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Nordstrom Brass Plum (here)
Cardigan: Nordstrom BP (here)
Necklace: Urban Outfitters
Watch: DKNY
Boots: Nordstrom BP
If you have been following my blog for a while, you have probably figured out that I have a minor obsession with stripes. Big stripes, little stripes, colored stripes, polka-dotted stripes, and yes even chevron stripes.

After seeing numerous pins on Pinterest with chevron striped wallpaper, I decided I loved the print. And what could possibly be better than a chevron striped wall?
...a chevron striped dress.

Happy Weekend!
